Hey there

Here’s the latest hit of music industry info. Apologies about the inconsistency of getting the newsletters out – I’ve been having horrendous problems with my new computer and despite a new hard drive, optical drive, motherboard and fan I’m still having problems!!

Please feel free to forward on and/or reprint part or all of the newsletter with a credit to Temple NZ Music Industry Info Bulletin www.temple.co.nz. (Most) back issues are at www.temple.co.nz

If you have anything you would like included (FREE!) in the next newsletter, please flick me an email by Friday. I don’t include gig listings, sorry, unless it involves an “opportunity” eg open mics

Tom Fair offers another songwriter opportunity for those who may have what it takes.

"An old friend of mine, a vocalist who had a number of top ten hits in the '60s, has an album deal and is looking for material. I can only tell you that she does not want "boy-girl songs" or "death songs" - she wants songs with a universal theme - and that a favorite track of hers is R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion." Those are your clues. You are welcome to submit (no more than 2) songs through me by sending mp3s and lyric sheets to: dynamic_events@hotmail.com." --- Tom Fair

Community advisers at Auckland City are hosting a unique networking event on Friday 23rd November.

This will be a valuable opportunity for community organisations to exchange skills and resources and of course – to network!

The event will be like a swap meet – where participants will exchange resources: with the expectation that what you request - you will receive!!

Each participant will prepare and bring along ONE exchangeable resource which will benefit another organisation. In addition, each participant will prepare and bring along ONE request which they believe will benefit their own organisation.

To ensure that the event runs effectively, we need to limit participant numbers to 40 people and have no more than two people per organisation attend. If there are two people from the same organisation, then each person needs to have prepared a different offer and request.

Requests and Offers can cover a really wide range of aspects which may include the following:

Physical Resources; e.g. furniture, stationery, computers, screens, data shows, overhead projector.

Human Resources; e.g. volunteers for a tree-planting day, an hour session with an IT database whizz, financial management training

Nothing offered or requested is too big or too small. What matters is that the offers and requests are realistic and genuine, are made with the full intention of being carried out and are of real benefit to the organisations attending.

The aim of the event is to match the Offers with the Requests.

In addition to the exchange of resources, the event will also allow participants to informally chat with one another and tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

The event is free. To register, please contact Judy Fishman, Ph: 354 2050, e-mail judy.fishman@aucklandcity.govt.nz no later than 4.30pm on Friday 16th November

If you have any questions regarding this event, please ring 379 2020 and ask to speak to a community adviser.
